Backer Rod is a foam material used to fill large checks and gaps between logs. The round shape helps create the ideal joint design.
Water resistant – repels water to protect the joint from damage. Excellent for log home weatherization
Saves money – fills the joint so you use less caulk. Sealants and chinking do not adhere to the backer rod -only to log surfaces of the joint- allowing for movement without damaging sealing material.

Provides support for chinking and sealants. Primary purpose is act as a “bond-breaker” & promote two-point adhesion (see diagram), giving the joint and sealing material the ability to compress/expand as logs move.
